In Years 12 and 13, we offer a full A Level programme with some BTEC courses. Students are assessed by means of final examinations at the end of their two-year course. These are often described as linear examinations. The greater majority of universities, including those ranked highest in the world, only ask for three grades as entry requirements with only a very small number of courses specifying a fourth A level requirement. Therefore, for all students, the programme of study will typically consist of three advanced level qualifications and these will be supplemented by additional study periods, enrichment activities and for many students, the Extended Project Qualification. In exceptional cases, some students may take four A level subjects and this is dependent on ability provision.
Our team of Tutors, Advisors and Counsellors are available to both our students and our parents and they will both advise and guide on the journey of choice. Our specialist staff are very much a part of our growing secondary phase and collectively we believe that such focus and aspiration does not begin in the Sixth Form, but far earlier in the life of the student school journey. We believe that with the right support, teaching and guidance, our students will graduate from Hartland and take their place at the world’s top universities, if they wish. We are confident that they will be courageous leaders, compassionate supporters and excellent decision makers, ready to make a difference on the global stage.

We have a strong focus on delivering an outstanding academic experience with a rich ambitious programme of extended study courses built around the student’s personal development and the cultivation of intellectual, moral, civic and performance virtues. The Hartland Sixth Form Diploma provides a holistic and well-rounded education to enable our students to be as competitive as possible when applying to top universities around the world.
The Diploma includes seven modules or strands in the area of personal development. Students are awarded the Hartland Diploma at Gold, Silver or Bronze level, depending on the credits out of the possible 50 credits available.
Students in Sixth Form can achieve a maximum of ten credits from personal enrichment through opportunities to lead or support enrichment activities, developing their own leadership skills. A further twenty credits are available through participation in the International Award as well as our VESPA programme.
On completion of each of the three modules, credits are awarded that contribute to the overall award.
